After departing Alpena with following John & Rita we followed highway 23 through Cheboygan to the bridge. Connie got a great picture of the magnificent bridge as we crossed it onto the Upper Peninsula (UP), beginning our Yooper experience. Both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are really only one body of water, sharing the same water level elevation.

& same with restaurants. The Star Line high speed ferry ride was only 18
minutes, including a buzz under the Mackinaw Suspension bridge, the longest
suspension bridge in North America. Mackinaw Island was a nice surprise. The
island is a State Park as of 1895, Michigan’s first, no vehicles transportation
... We opted for lunch alongside the tea room, as the buffet was $40 a pop. Formal wear is proscribed after six, but I'd do it just to get at that dinner menu... The time to stay here is at the end do the season when it goes on the American Plan-with 3 meals included. Several movies have been filmed here, the last being Steeve Reeves and Jane Seymore in Somewhere in Time ...

A very nice and reasonable place to stay in beautiful Saint Igance. A big spread out facility that had both an indoor and outdoor pool or you could swim in Lake Huron. They also had a fire pit going at night so you could make s'mores that they provided.
