... such vibrancy and life to the market, it consumed little India and was contagious, I felt great and really excited. After walking around for an hour and a half we headed back to the hostel, where Gabrielle showed me his photos from his travels, I then went to bed about 12:30 ish, tired from the long day. Today had been a good day, I was happy to have made a new friend in Singapore and have some company and gave me another boost and enthusiasm for the days to follow.
Singapore, Singapore leehorscraft... Neither of us slept all night due to the cold and the noise. Arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 7am and made our way to Traders Hotel.....

Our main impression of Singapore was that it was a large city with very little character - there was nothing uniquely Singaporean about it and there seemed to be too many influences from western culture, which was a shame. Although our hotel was nice and we liked certain parts, we'd not be in any hurry to come back.

E&P
Singapore, Singapore empaul_asia09... the wind and rising seas to experience it! At Koh Samui airport yesterday she got caught up in another monsoon when going to the cashpoint, and the picture we have is well worth seeing - drowned rat springs to mind!

We had planned to make our way to Singapore by travelling through Malaysia but we loved Thailand that much we forgot to leave!!! We went directly to ...
Singapore, Singapore benandem24... up at 11am as children struggling with effects of jetlag. This is the first time they have visited Asia and experienced significant time changes forward. Took a taxi to Chinatown as realized it was a cheaper and quicker alternative to the metro, especially since have to pay full fare for the children (over 90cm high). Also means we can avoid crowds and people coughing and sneezing everywhere. We are getting through a lot of ...
Singapore, Singapore busafamBack at the Old Town Guesthouse in Phuket I had met a really nice couple from Singapore, Naish & a nameless girlfriend. The girlfriend suggested to visit 400 acre Bukit Timah Nature Reserve which contains Singapore's highest hill & retains the only substantial area of primary rainforest left in the country. Apparently Singapore is one of only two cities in ...
Batam, Riau, Indonesia planetvaleI finnished my 4 months in Asia with a stop in Singapore for a few days. Everyone had told me it is very expensive there so i just was there for a weekend. It was very nice but didnt feel like Asia. I spent tiome walking around the city, to Indian district and to Clark Quay.
Singapore, Singapore itenerant78... more.
It was the same price to fly from Chicago to Bangkok as it was to fly from Chicago to Singapore to Thailand. Great let's go to Singapore! Bangkok had just built a brand new airport and I read SEVERAL horror stories of people getting arrested, horrible facilities and stolen luggage. So instead of dealing with that, I saw that Tiger Airways flew from Singapore to Chiang Mai. i assumed that would mean small immigration lines and no hassles. I was right.
Singapore, Singapore safety_first... it to go faster with all my being. I couldn't believe I'd overslept. I never oversleep. Despite the posh room I'd had, I feared another night in Batam. One night was already two too many, and I was itching to get to Sumatra. I happened to have found another saintly cabbie. He broke every law he could and abused the hell out of his old Corolla to get me there on time. I tipped him an extra 10,000 Rp. (which is about one dollar) and made it onto my boat. Goodbye Batam.
Pulau Batam, Indonesia dogeleven... from Singapore, Carrie. Big surprise:-). For those of you who ride.. the cable is about the same size as the Rixen in Deerfield, but with 5 corners. They have a big kicker, a small launch, and an inflatable rail which I could not seem to master. I think I was a bit heavy for it. Mike is working on opening a new cable in Singapore . I am very excited to see this completed!
