Fun trip to Murrayfield for Scotland v Fiji.....lots of happy Scottish faces after the win, boys in fancydress, stag parties galore, chuc-chucs ferrying folks home in the rain, great cocktails in an Italian Jazz bar and running to catch last train back home on a busy busy Saturday night train heading South.
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom helen-marie... for the day. That morning I had dressed in underarmour, a longsleeve shirt and a polo with a sweater just in case. It was October 29, so the weather should have been quite chilly. To our utter surprise we had 60 degree weather and none of those layers were needed once we reached the golf course.

The sun was shining, the people were helpful and it was our turn to tee off. Now, most of you know that golf is not one of my life passions, nor am I that great at ...

Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom samjake... Sleeping was easier tonight, except for the drunk bloke opening our tent, we had gotten used to the fact that people would be constantly coming past our tent, plus we were so tired it would be impossible to stay awake.

Saturday 12th July, Day 171, T in the Park Day 3

When we woke up and chatted to our neighbour he told us how someone died at T in the Park the previous year. Three Scotsmen started ******* on some ladies tent. The girls told them to ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom jaspergreene... Euros and those awful £20 notes you get in Scotland - maybe I should get a monopoly set - I doubt anybody would even notice.

This blog is as much checking that my camera's pictures can be uploaded etc, with a couple of exciting (*cough*) "packing" photos. Bit more excited now, but have little concrete to say on the subject. My first two nights are reserved, and fortunately the SWAP centre and ther ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom james_haikney... exciting to learn more about Scotland it is nice to have some sense of familiarity. It may be cold and dreary and bleak to some, but I find it absolutely lovely! For the past few days we have been in a IFSA-Butler Orientation where basically they throw a lot of information at us and make us fill out a bunch of random paperwork. Fun times. It was really neat today though because the only MSP ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom deacnightowl88... Firth of Forth are very pretty. We learned a wee dram of Scottish history, which motiviated me to buy a book about Mary, Queen of Scots and devour it in one day. I was beyond distressed to see a huge concert setup in the main square of the castle, knowing that I had missed a chance to attend a concert... turns out it was Leonard Cohen, which made it doubly annoying. As it turns out, we would have been way too tired to stay up for a concert anyway. After the ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom griffco... eat. A few store fronts down we found "The Castle Arms" serving some good beer and even better food. Chris got vegetarian Haggis and I got the vegetarian Sausage and Mash. For dessert we ordered the "tradition Scottish" option which was a trifle of unsweetened wild berries and curdled cream (that was interesting), something I am glad I tried but do not have to try again! We finished our beers and went back up the street to get some sleep.
Edinburgh, United Kingdom gojenngo... alloted entrance fee to the Scotch Whiskey Heritage Centre and put it towards a bottle of single malt Scotch. Oh by the way, can you tell that I am of Scottish heritage (second generation)! Being very pleased with my tasting, purchase and most of all cost savings I headed down the hill from Edinburgh Castle where I came upon the Ensign Ewarts pub. Hmmmm, I was getting hungry plus I knew they served a special stout beer from the ...
