... a long day, almost without rain (as predicted) except at the very first of the trip. We hastily secured Rhiannon. Maggie put together some delicious tuna melt, and we relaxed with a feeling of accomplishment for completing a long trek with a little navigational challenge at the end. The last of the (good) box wine topped off the meal. Tonight we'd sleep in real beds, enjoy leisurely hot water showers, another glass of wine, and the chance to catch up on the ...

... other went without a hitch. We have read each other our emails, blogged, and shared our inner most concerns. Not a day went by, Drew didn't ask me what I learned & truthfully, couldn't put it in words. Our politics and life dreams are on same page & much more to see and do. Highway 70 south brought me past the Croatan National Forest to the coastal towns of Morehead City and Beaufort, both on the Intercoastal Waterway, protected from the Atlantic by a series of islands and peninsulas. Beaufort is the 3rd oldest city in North Carolina and is full of beautiful old houses with porches and widow's walks. I walked along the waterfront and then joined Captain Bob on the Water Bug for a history and wildlife cruise. We saw three of the wild horses ...

... had a delicious Banh Mi sandwich with garlic fries and a side of mustard greens. I also had a Dark Flite beer sampler - four samples of stout beers. All were good. Ruth had a hard cider which she said was unusually good. VJ then drove us over to their daughter Kendra's house who graciously offered to put us up during our stay. By this time it was rather late (after 10:30), so we got our stuff into Kendra's house and got ready for and went to bed. More pictures to ...
