10.02 Here we are on the bus again!! We left just after 7.30 and were not expected to arrive in Paraty until 7.30 this evening! So far the journey has been very scenic! Mountains, forests and blue sky! I am currently sat in a reclined seat under the duvet (air con is cold) looking out of the window!! There are an awful lot of banana plantations here as well - banana at break then?! 11.09 No banana at the break - coconut ...
... numerous times and I couldnt help feeling a little sad at the impact humans have on wildlife even on this small scale. We are a clumsy and intrusive species, even when trying not to be. We also saw: Margaritu Stork (I think thats how you spell it) Some small white birds that were diving into the river and fishing Pink herons, grey herons, white herons, cormorants and, wait for it. Chak-Shakka-Lak. yes. thats what I said. this tickled me for about 30minutes ...
... were also fishing. The Flemish couple who had gone out in a car saw a tapir with it's young but sadly we missed that. Breakfast, packed and drove to next lodge with a stop along the way to walk to a viewing platform by the river which we saw spoonbill birds from and took pictures. Getting really hot by mid morning so very nice the next place, Rio Claro lodge, had a swimming pool even if it was rather small and very green water, still enjoyed a cooling swim ...
