        Overnight stop in a great town

        ... going to work. After talking with a local on the radio we pulled into the Provision Company docks. Free overnight if you dine at their place.
        Worked out well since they had the best shrimp around; that was an easy lunch and dinner stop.
        town is easy to walk in an afternoon. Which we did during my 2 hour long lunch break.

        ... boring white cooler behind the bar. the bar itself has a maze of odd rooms to hang out in. One was a dark living room with old sofas and chairs and a big screen TV. Then around the corner a sandy outdoor space with corn hole games. picnic tables; and weird water falls with gaudy fish statues.

        ... touristy. The Cape Fear River strikes a wonderful picture with the occasional paddle steamer, the US Coastguard and the imposing USS North Carolina on the other shore. A small boat takes tourists across the river for $8 return, to visit the battleship. We take the journey, it is obvious that the deck hand is new to the job as the Captain (rather an extravagant title for a boat so small) makes his life pretty hard going for him ...

Our trusty driving companion was guiding us successfully although there were some minor errors in her navigation of our wrong direction correction.
