... of staying in Skiathos town was a wide choice of taverns to spend an evening in. When I say a whole evening, I mean it, because it takes quite a time to eat as much as the Greeks do. I certainly mean sharing one plate for two. The food is so good that you simply cannot refuse it. Having this great variety of places to eat in you simply can’t go wrong, as the Greeks seem to be competing in the art of cooking.
Still, we certainly had our favourites.
... by car and to have more time for walking there enjoying the view, as it offers quite a lot to see.
We stopped for lunch in K. Georgi, a fishing village on the mainland, which turned out to be a very nice and picturesque place. To many of our British fellow travelers it was the first time on the mainland in Greece.
... of “driving” a boat. This was nearly the same as having a yacht of your own, but without taking care of it.
Time flies unbelievably quickly!
The conclusion is that it must be tried at least once, after that you become addicted. Sailing can’t be compared to anything.
You can find Peter in the New Port. He is a most charming person and a very responsible and experienced sailor. Look for the smallest boat. It is the best one.
... enter and see it and, probably, think of the eternity.
Several hidden beaches which are really meant for relaxation and are not at all as crowded as the most popular ones. The only drawback of these beaches is that you have to walk there, but they are really worth it.
Time flew very quickly and it was a pity to part with Lida, as you are not willing to part with a hospitable mistress of a house or a good friend.
... Winner Takes It All" was filmed. Church on an outcropping and a rocky beach in the middle of nowhere. Pretty cool. A repeat of the dessert/sunset thing after dinner...this time with ouzo and lemons courtesy of a tree growing on the property.
Day three: Two beaches. The second was my favorite of the whole trip -- you could swim out a ways and work your way down the rocky coast ...
... therefore quiet) and only about a 15 minute walk to the main drag.
Plus she stuck a bottle of wine in the fridge for us.
The first day was spent exploring the town. Both of us were in bed by, like, ten.
Day two was spent between two beaches on the other side of the island... The second was a bit of a hike and hidden. Dinner that evening was phenomenal and included free ...
... I mention the food.... Marilyn you really should have come, we've been thinking of you and Con! Thick, rich yogurt with honey and walnuts, the best, most flaky and creamy spinach pie you've ever tasted - thick, dense breads, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, peppers, - and the olives and feta... and the sagnaki!! I could go on and on.... but suffice to say it's incredibly delicious.... and the warm sea air makes it taste even better! So, as you can tell we're having a ...
Alonissos, Sporades, Greece strattc... Samny (two door, red jeep that looks like a comical big wheel) which is a standard shift, it makes a girl pray. That old prayer that goes something like "Dear God, help me, help me, help me..." then clutch in, deep breath, and debris goes flying as you fish tail it up or down a double-black diamond hill. It is fun as hell even as you pull the e-brake going around turns in order to miss hitting the monuments that have been erected for others who weren't quite as skilled ...
Skiathos, Greece anneimal... stretch of sleeping, nutella (confer, this is the spread of the Gods), crepes, beach, impossibly clear water, people watching, eating - nay, feasting, more sleeping, art openings, and a bit of blogging before we hit the town late night. It is so strange to be sitting in an internet cafe in the middle of skiathos bumping geto boyz which is blasting on the speakers right now. Tis true, though, 'damn, it feels good to be a gangsta." I am drowning in philosophical ...
Skiathos, Greece anneimal... I am making myself gag now. The greek gamer next to me is staring. The silver bullet smells like high school restrooms, at the end of the day. I hate the bullet. I am on strike against the bullet after we leave LC's house. I will flush all of my TP just like the ignorant American that I am. Ugh. ***Please note: Jennifer is the gatekeeper. She is a goddess amongst mere mortals for the sheer fact that it is she who empties the shitcan. She walks a bit taller ...
