Kalmar is a small Swedish town on the Baltic Sea favored by the natives for a get away who walk, if not, bike everywhere. There is a sea of bikes parked everywhere you go.         We were lucky enough to be able to borrow an apartment from a good friend.
        After a good nights sleep we got a guided tour around town. We got to see the mighty kukkola rapids located upstream from Haparanda in the Torne-river.

        ... an hour to spare, there was to be a long day driving again today. Off we went, more scenic countryside before turning off to Nybro at the start of the Kingdom of Crystal route. If the difficulty we had in finding the tourist bureau, was any indication it was going to be a long and circuitous day.
