... before we became too familiar. We recovered at a coffee bar and 7 eleven with a couple of slurpies and would be retail threapy but sarah packed too much stuff alreadly... WE all told her so. now were sucking on a sugar cane stick and she insists she feels alot better, but thats what she said this morning about the 'fresh' air, and it indeed is ''fresh''! pictures to come, wish sarah well, the poor little dumpling...

We caught a train from HK to Guangzhou on the 4th. Its a very hectic city. Lots of people, bikes, cars and buses. people riding bike on the road with ridiculous things tied to the back. we are staying on an island in the city named shamian. its very pretty, but a true tourist hub. our hostel is lovely. we thought that we were truely livinh the high life until we visited a hotel across the road that ...

Business

Enjoyed our meetings and colleagues. Went to dinner at a typical Guangdong/Canton restaurant. Menu was very creative. Plenty of exotics - baby pigeon, sting ray, fish guts, beetles, snakes, chicken feet. Was a bit naseous, but likely because of jet lag.

... doesn't speak English nor does the lead of the sim-card mafia, but he jumps in the front seat after I negotiate 200 yuan for the ride into the city using the hotel's chinese character address. Guess he just made commission on me. 30 minutes to GZ city center

The men in white suits....

... As you can imagine I nearly had heart failure worrying! I had visions of him being turned back from China (this might have been a blessing in disguise!) and just when I thought he was gone forever a load of chinese people in white suits from head to toe (think astronaut) appeared from the room he was in......thankfully Ollie appeared a few minutes later looking unharmed but with a white mask clamped to his mouth...hilarious sight!

The Haizhu District & Goodbye Beautiful Guangzhou

Hey Hey and a Big G'Day toya, So here I sit snuggly snug snug on my bunk on board the sleeper train bound for Kaifeng City. Everyone around me is either sleeping or trying to sleep but being kept awake by the loudest snorer in the entire world, who is of course right opposite yours truly. I ...

Juledagene i Guangzhou: 24.-28. december

... tilbud.

... Our first impressions are that there are a hell of a lot of people here - every where you go there are masses of people, lots of queues. What seemed to slip our minds was that the Olympic torch was due he today and crowds where every where in result - it is a little bit daunting at times as well as frustration when you keep bumping into people continuously. My only resemblance is oxford street in early December but all the time. What makes this further more a ...

Jen and Zoe's City-to-Sea Breakaway 2005 - Part 2

... sharp tones. I felt like I was in a new country. It took a full hour to get to New Asia Hotel. The bellhop quickly grabbed our suitcases and had them in the lobby by the time I paid the fare and got out of the car. We were presented with hot towels ( a first ever upon check-in at a hotel for me) and smiling staff at every turn. The room was small but clean. As we settled in Zoe looked through the service guide and soon was belting out a hearty chuckle. Not only were there "Drinks and ...

... Zenhai Tower and Yuexiu Park. After being dropped back at the hotel I ventured out for a walk by myself and arrived at one of the first McDonald's in China. Ordered a Big Mac meal by pointing at the placemats, did the calculations in my head, and came up with the theory that a Big Mac meal was about the same price in Australian dollars anywhere in the world. Had a surreal moment when sitting outside McDonald's I realised that I was listening to John Farnham singing.
