Summer has definitely arrived in Nanjing after a very wet Spring, the temperatures have now soared and it is very hot and sticky.
I arrived back yesterday afternoon after a couple of days at Stephen Gardner's Hangzhou 14 Centre helping the English department plan their curriculum for the next year. Stephen is a lovely American from South Carolina and treated me to lunch; coffee and chocolate brownie mid afternoon; cocktails and a lovely Thai curry in the evening.

... Fresh in town (popular with Westerners). Caroline showed me how to get a taxi expat style: walk into a 5 star hotel, pretend you’re staying there and have the concierge organize a taxi for you. Apparently this is also a good trick for posting mail. My driver had asked for the night off (social event) so left us at Elements Fresh. The taxi home (approx 30 min drive) cost us a total of $8!
