This morning we began with Tai Chi which I am very much enjoying as a way to start the day. The stretching and movements are good and it's a lot of fun learning something new, it give you a great sense of achievement for the rest of the day! Today we had our first culture class which was also the last class of the American students. It was very interesting as the guy had spent some time living in the U.S. so he said he was for democracy but that he thinks things are improving in China. We asked about the one child policy and he spoke openly about the effect it has had on society and the traditional family structure. He seemed very open to discussions and did not hold back his personal opinions ...

... murals). We were mesmerized by a circular room with a moving picture of a Chinese town displayed on the entire wall (see photos). Every element of the picture had movement (eg people cooking in tiny kitchens, selling wares on streets, arguing with neighbors etc). As we watched, the day turned into night, and seasons changed. I have never seen anything like it! Caroline and I could have stood and watched for hours.
