... we can practice our languages although their English is already very good. On the walk back to the hotel I was chatting with Henry and it transpires that he has an exam tomorrow night! However he said that he is prepared and since it's an English exam really he was doing revision anyway. When we got in we discovered that the cockroach had moved house to Aimee's room owing to the mayday Whatsapp that we all received! It was promptly removed and we can all sleep easily ...

... up close they were peeling a bit! Every so often there would be an information sign along the way or a small exhibition in the gate tower. We decided to walk 3km along passing 2 gates however the wall at some point ran out and we are not sure if we were at our suggested destination. We discovered that we may in fact have overshot as we then had to walk back along the base of the wall for some way until we could turn downhill to reach the metro station. ... I have found the roads to have similar rules to South East Asia; a lot of use of the horn and no strict lane use. This also means though that crossing the road is straight forward; when it's a green man just go and even if they still come they will move around you, and if there are no lights also just go! And on top of this they have to study for their SAT which is the Standard Assessment Tests for entry into USA universities, or IELTS for entry into UK universities. the SAT requires them to have a vocabulary of about 5000 words in English so they are studying these words all the time. You see them on the subway
learning lists of words and their meaning. They have no teenage life

... Fresh in town (popular with Westerners). Caroline showed me how to get a taxi expat style: walk into a 5 star hotel, pretend you’re staying there and have the concierge organize a taxi for you. Apparently this is also a good trick for posting mail. My driver had asked for the night off (social event) so left us at Elements Fresh. The taxi home (approx 30 min drive) cost us a total of $8! Bargain! A 10 min taxi ride from Adelaide airport cost me $22 in ...
