We went to Thousand-Buddha Hill (Qianfoshan) today. Many steps to climb to see several temples, including the huge Xingguochan Temple, the beautiful Maitreya Buddha and the lying Buddha with a Swastika on his chest, and a cave of 130 buddha statues.

We later found out that there is also Thousand Buddha Cliff which is a different place, 35 km away from Jinan with more Buddhas carved along a 35m wall.

We then went to Yinhuchi Jie (Muslim Food Street).

We booked a driver for 650yuan to take us on the 2 hour journey out to Mount Tai. This is a UNESCO world Heritage site and is one of five sacred mountains in China for thousands of years. There are 22 temples dotted around the mountain, and several hundred steps to climb to the summit. We got a bus halfway and then got a cable car, but still climbed steps up to the temples at the summit. As we arrived the summit was covered in fog ...

Will and I arrived in Jinan for Qing Ming (Tomb Sweeping) weekend break. We went to the Park which is where the Baotu Spring originates and had a wander around. It was quite cold and polluted, unlike Ningbo yesterday when it had been very warm and sunny.

Had a pizza in a lovely German restaurant by the river.

    ... actions.

After lunch and dinner at some local restaurants we were treated to a Kungfu Show. It was packed with 99.9 % foreigners but it was a great show with a lot of history on Kungfu and the Shaolin Temple. Shaolin is the birthplace of Kungfu and at one time was a guarded secret. In fact, when Bruce Lee was teaching Kungfu to foreigners, he received a lot of backlash from the Chinese ...

... the meal. I was served coke and you cannot take a drink unless somebody cheers you, or vice versa. The father and uncle were very respectful, they would not smoke or drink while I was in their home since I do not indulge. The Chinese will always try to give you "face" (respect) and you should give face back as much as possible. However, the Chinese are so gracious that it is almost embarrassing how much they kowtow (bow ...
