The mussels are left in the nets for 2-4 years or more. The longer the time, the bigger the pearl! During this time the mussels are cleaned and water is circulated to keep the mussels alive and healthy.

Barely took any photos in Hangzhou as it ****** it down most of the time we were there but here are a few. Hangzhou isn't much of a wintery place really as most of the activities are based around the lake. We attempted to walk around it on my birthday but got soaked through so went to a silk museum instead.
