... highlights of our little tour was when we stopped at one of the stalls that was selling candle light covers of various designs. One in particular had a design of sailing ships and lighthouses to which Johanna's mother exclaimed "Urgh, so typisch Norddeutsch"....having experienced as much of Germany as I had, this internal joke reminiscent of England's North-South divide gave me a warm chuckle.

Sure enough this city has a lovely preserved square and I took a large
number of photos. The square is traffic free but there is however trams that run
right through the centre of it.
The whole square and surrounding area is full of old and historic buildings
and simply looks great, however there is one big let-down and that is a modern

The exchange students were all treated to some speeches and music before a buffet, with pictures of our Erasmus time we shown on the big screen.
