19 Dec 4 hours drive to Hanoi today and there is a few green faces and a lot of "this is the worst hangover I have ever had" comments, ha ha ha Checked into the hotel and went for a walk, Hanoi is crazy, 6 million people and 4 million scooters, they just swarm around you like bees, pedestrian crossing's mean nothing, you just have to walk out on the road and walk with a purpose and they move around you, at first it is a bit strange and then you just get used to it. Walked up to Hoan Kiem Lake...
Hanoi, Vietnam freebenArrived in Hanoi, traffic is CRAZY!! Everybody on motorbikes, bicycles or scooters and seems to run in an organised chaos fashion! Lovely people, very friendly and helpful. Streets are a bit stinky, and a few rats scuttlin about. Went to 'City View Cafe' for a few drinks which gave us a great view of one of the biggest and craziest junctions. Food is really nice, less spicy as the Thailand tastes!

I ordered the fish and gave it to Dave. Needless to say, Dave felt sick for the rest of the journey.
There was a taxi arranged by our hotel waiting for us in Hanoi. The ...

... They brought a wheelchair out and put me in it and then wheeled me back in to get all my vitals taken and then hooked me up to a saline drip. The day started at 10 am and they released me at 4 pm. One of the teachers came by to visit me and brought me food which went a long way in getting me back on my feet and out the door faster. I also got an ultrasound on my leg and they discovered there’s still ...
Hanoi, Vietnam mrcwoodsman... furnished and in an out of the way alley where its fairly quiet. The humorous thing about it is that its presently rented by two guys that are teachers at the school where I'll be teaching (Singapore International School at Van Phuc) They are moving because his roommate found a cheaper place and David the guy showing me the place is marrying one of the interpreters from the school. I have calls in to several realty people to help me find other places ...

one day we took a cyclo to see Tian Quoc pagoda, the oldest pagoda in hanoi. it is on a little peninsula that overlooks the largest lake in the city, and there were people in swan shaped paddleboats dotting the sunset-gleaming water. we also visited the Temple of Literature, one of the oldest universities in Vietnam - it was started in the 11th century to ...

Hanoi, Vietnam davechemical... construction doesn't fail to impress, says visitor Ha Thi Tan, a retired teacher from Ha Noi. "Bai Dinh Pagoda is a harmonious combination of old and the new, past and present. Building it drew together the skills and creativity of today's population, with some help from science and technology," she says. The juxtaposition of old and new is made all the more obvious when visitors pay a trip to the original pagoda a few kilometres away. The positions of the two pagodas ...
