We'd anticipated stronger winds overnight and those we had, accompanied by some heavy showers. However, tucked away as we were in this cosy man-made harbour we were safe and comfortable. Other boats which were more downwind of us were a little more exposed and I think they must have had quite an unpleasant time of it, as their hulls were being squashed against their fenders and this makes it quite noisy on board.

In the morning, it was still blowing a good F6 and ...

... and the lighthouse and then worked our way back to the boat. It was so peaceful here, there are no engines as there are no roads, so all you could hear was bird song and the ever-present strong breeze, ruffling the leaves. It was idyllic.

... used to play clarinet, so I get to have a go, remembering I haven’t played in a good five years. But we jam with clarinet, guitar (Megan), harmonica (Elna’s kiddo), crazy triangular uke thing (Herman) and djembe (Elna). Tears threaten when Megan asks for the harmonica back, not really wanting it full of saliva and actually knowing how to play it being very valid points.

... Maria A mentioned I may be able to get a lift Maria B and her family up to Stockholm, and after a rather quick Yes Sure have not heard anything since. I kick myself for not organizing this properly. Emails and Facebooks are no luck, and I do not have her phone number, so for a while I am here to stay. It’s now I feel stuck and alone, and in desperate need of a distraction. I finish packing, clean the kitchen a little, feed the furnace, chop wood – anything to ...
