After visiting the Mountain Resort yesterday, today was all about serious temple hopping ie. going to the temples around the perimeter of the Mountain Resort, ie. the Wai Ba Miao, Eight Outer Temples : http://www.travelchinaguide.com/attract ion/hebei/chengde/eight_temple.htm

... br> This area was only opened to the public in 1956 and to this day only one of the thirteen tombs has been opened. That was our next stop. We walked down 6 flights down of stairs- each tomb is buried 27 meters underground. This Emporer was from the Ming Dynasty. Pretty much all the artifacts were ruined when the tomb was opened as they had no idea how to store it. Luckily for us they had it filled with imitation props but had the real thrones.
