... direction as it would make it easier to walk that way. He chose north; I believe because he was fascinated by the swan paddle boats docked in that direction. A pirate ship was also pulling in. Will ran over and ripped off his jacket. I was confused until I realized he was revealing his pirate ship sweatshirt. Luckily, it was warming up and he could lose the layer.

This morning we head off to Hakone, about 80 min train ride away from Tokyo, to stay in a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). Hakone is located in Japan's Fuji National Park known for hot spring resorts and Mt Fuji views. At least we are told there are good views of Mt Fuji, not that it ever made an appearance for us. From there we went on to the Japanese art gallery which had magnificent views of Lake Ashi and Mt Fuji. Next step was the trip across the lake in a pirate ship - Jonny Depp could have been on board. From there it was back down to our accommodation. This is quite an experience. It's a large hotel and shoes are removed at the front door and put into lockers. Many ...

... and presented equally impressive. The food was all lovely, just a bit too much fish for us westerners! We did manage to find a pork restaurant, which we couldn't walk past yesterday for lunch! It only served pork and in two similar dishes, but it was delicious and a highly welcomed change! There are different types of onsen, for different purposes. In our Inn, they had public onsen which are essentially used as public bathhouses to wash and clean yourself. The "open ...
