... disoriented as we walked to the Paul Laurence Dunbar house (a poet and high school friend of the Wrights), stumbled into a massive car show at the Carillon Historical Park, and drove all the way across town to see the Huffman Prairie Flying Field. Along the way we caught glimpses of the University of Dayton, Wright State University, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. All of it was mildly interesting, and yet nothing stands out.

Also, the huge aircraft were parked out on the airfield, far from the building, so we opted to look from afar... Then we went to the Huffman Prairie Flying Field and Interpretive Centre. ... there are not that many bugs...but, apparently the cicadas eat them. I tried taking a picture of the fireflies, but the IPad doesn't do well with night shots. Instead I took a video so you might hear the tree frogs... The Perseids Meteor shower is supposed to be happening all this week, but we can't seem to stay up late enough to see them...or it clouds over an rains...We've seen a couple of shooting stars though and figure that's good ...
... with fields and fields of sweetcorn. The hotel just happened to be having a 'Manager's welcome evening’, which satisfied our dietary and thirst needs! There was also a much-needed (and utilised) guest laundry facility.
Tuesday morning we set off to ‘do the museums’. Dayton is the birthplace of aviation as the Wright Brothers (Orville and Wilbur) had their bicycle shop and business here. ...
