    ... disoriented as we walked to the Paul Laurence Dunbar house (a poet and high school friend of the Wrights), stumbled into a massive car show at the Carillon Historical Park, and drove all the way across town to see the Huffman Prairie Flying Field. Along the way we caught glimpses of the University of Dayton, Wright State University, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. All of it was mildly interesting, and yet nothing stands out.

    ... 8230;.This thought is prettier in Spanish, but for most of my readers, I must translate: LIKE A PROMISE: This morning I noticed ONE leaf turning red on one of the beautiful maple trees next to our motor home. Just one! Our trek to the northeast was instigated by the promise of color and fall grandeur that awaits us later this month, and it is beginning!

    ... was all we could do. Needless to say, there were more things about the Wright Brothers throughout this museum too. Also, the huge aircraft were parked out on the airfield, far from the building, so we opted to look from afar... Then we went to the Huffman Prairie Flying Field and Interpretive Centre. This place overlooks the field where the Wright Brothers continued to test and modify their flying machine. There are signs saying ...

    ... there are not that many bugs...but, apparently the cicadas eat them. I tried taking a picture of the fireflies, but the IPad doesn't do well with night shots. Instead I took a video so you might hear the tree frogs... The Perseids Meteor shower is supposed to be happening all this week, but we can't seem to stay up late enough to see them...or it clouds over an rains...We've seen a couple of shooting stars though and figure that's good ...

    ... with fields and fields of sweetcorn. The hotel just happened to be having a 'Manager's welcome evening’, which satisfied our dietary and thirst needs! There was also a much-needed (and utilised) guest laundry facility.

    Tuesday morning we set off to ‘do the museums’. Dayton is the birthplace of aviation as the Wright Brothers (Orville and Wilbur) had their bicycle shop and business here. ...
