    Summary

Drove 184 miles in 3 hours.

    Highlights

Was a low key day. Had a quick lunch in Greektown Detroit before hitting the road. My gyros was a huge disappointment and Karen's octopus salad was basically inedible. Terrible way to end the visit.

The drive was uneventful and we arrived mid- afternoon which ...

... Graceland and Memphis. After a good few hours looking round the museum we headed to the Mohican state park campsite to set up camp, make tea and have a chilled out night round the campfire :) Me, Betina and Joe are chefs for the night and we rustled up a delicious spicy chicken and rice dish which seemed to go down really well although I made more of a rice pudding than a pan of rice ha ha. It was not like I was just there as a person in the crowd, I was an invited guest and it felt like family. What an absolutely amazing group of people.

I can only hope to remain friends with them and go out again in the future.

... br> A taxi then took us to the Powerhouse, a converted building housing an aquarium downstairs, and restaurant upstairs. This is where we boarded a tour, with PJ the guide and driver. She was very informative, but didn't allow any questions, as she was narrating while listening to a tape.

We learned the history of Cleveland. How in 1796 General Moses Cleveland was employed as a surveyor, and how a group of wealthy men ...

Leaving Cleveland was a major pain. We faced detour after detour. Mostly it was due to construction, but that was not the case in the local park where we were supposed to pick up a bike path along the shore. We were evacuated by police, who were in the park with fire fighters and medics. They already had it taped off and were yelling at the large crowd ...
