... an oil change for CharLi and Toad needs a serious bath, I am burning the midnight oil (since we just hit Central Daylight Timezone today) to put together this blog for our readers. But we want to be up in Voyageurs by Sunday evening.

Sraddha heads out to do some birding this morning. I remain here at home, catching up on email and other internet things. We only could get this campsite for one night so off to find the next place.

Then back on the road, back to US 14 -- and eventually a meandering route (avoiding road works, or trying to) to go north from US 14 to US 212, which took us across South Dakota to our campsite on the banks of 'the wide Missouri' (Lake Oahe).

... highway towards De Smet, the site of the Little Town on the Prairie. There are a lot more trees than I imagined but I expect that is because the first settlers planted them just like Pa did in the books. Gas is getting cheaper. We just say it for 3.39 a gallon. Actually all the gas has been cheaper than it is in Grand Rapids. ...

Wasn't expecting Chinese food or a waterslide

... and we had a pretty decent Chinese meal considering we are in South Dakota. My fortune said I will be taking a chance in the near future. I am not sure I like that. From Sioux Falls we drove to Brookings for our hotel. I took the girls down to the pool for a swim only to find that the pool had a waterslide also. Sarah thought that was very cool. She must have did the slide about 12 times. Now everyone is settling down for the night.
