The grid work of streets that make Manhattan so easy to navigate were instigated by the Americans when they took over and so Lower Manhattan is a cross cross irregular mess of streets reminiscent of Old London than the modern U.S. We passed historically significant sights, fittingly with all of the marriage equality news of late, the Stonewall Inn, where re first gay pride march was conceived and started from.
