Welcome to Kansas! I think this is my 16th stop so far, and will be brief one on the way to Denver tomorrow! With a nine-hour drive ahead of us, Zach and I woke up early in Houston and packed up our stuff. Our stay with my high school classmate, Tacy, and her boyfriend, Dom, was amazing and they made it very difficult to want to leave. To top it all off, we headed to Minute Maid Park and Dom treated us to a couple of ...

... at 12:35...the temp was up to 90 at this point. Paying our admission we took the next two hours touring the area. First we went into the Place of Meditation which is the final resting place of Dwight D. Eisenhower, Mamie Eisenhower, and their first-born son, Doud. It is an amazingly peaceful feeling spot.

Then we went to the Presidential Library and spent some time looking at a very moving exhibit of art work that was done ...

... was 71 degrees and it never got above 75 all day long, dropping down into the low 60's later in the afternoon. Nice. We are hoping that we can make the drive across Kansas without experiencing the 105 to 107 degree temps that we enjoyed on our last drive through the state.

We stopped in Joplin, MO for fuel at 12:30. Gas was $3.22.9 at a Flying J including our discount. We got over 10+ miles to the gallon again. We are VERY pleased with ...

Good ride into Wichita today. Hammered out the 90 miles with my buddies roof and Brently. We stayed in the Wichita State University dorms. I got to experience my first Chick Fill A today. Have to say I approve. For our dinner we were feed by a local group that participates in iCan Bike. This is a program where an engineer created bikes where the back tire is inerchangable with rollers and over the course of five days kids with disabilities can progress to riding normal bikes. ...
