aim to entertain rather than educate, sacrificing depth and breadth to draw in
those with short attention spans with interactive displays, noisy videos, and dumbed-down
explanations. Not here, though; this museum is one grownups can appreciate,
ranking up there with the Deutsches Museum in Munich as one of the top
      science/technology museums I’ve ever visited.

... we stumbled across Police on Harley's giving people rides, missed out on getting one but enjoyed watching. Visited the National Gallery of Art. There was a really good posthumous photo exhibition by Garry Winogrand which we spent a lot of time viewing. My favourite painting was Lavender Mist by Jackson Pollock. Could've spent hours staring at it. We also visited the National Museum of American History which was awesome. There was a great exhibition about the March on Washington ...

... Given the similarities between the US and the UK, the differences were often all the more startling.

After a few disappointing days in DC, we picked up a rental car and left the city. The next four days had been set aside for the Shenandoah National Park, where, as well as beautiful scenery, it's common to see little black bears ambling along foraging, so we had been really looking forward to our final camping experience. But the park was closed because of ...

In Which I spend 16 hours in an Airport Terminal

A travel blog entry by johngallagher1 on Aug 07, 2013

My parents dropped me off at the Airport at about 6 PM. I checked my bag and went through security and found my gate. I got some Chinese food. I was amazed to find that there was a bar that served ONLY tequila in the terminal. Sadly, I was not yet in an enlightened country where the drinking age is 18 and was therefore unable to sample the Tequilaria.

I went to wait by my gate for my 10:55 flight. At 10:55 everyone lined up. Nothing ...
