... And so, the word for today is WATER. I began this blog with water in Niagara Falls and I am coming to a conclusion with water in the bayou. Seems fitting.

The trees began to look familiar, southern yellow pine, live oak, cypress and I don't know what else. And palm trees. In Baton rouge we saw palm trees, so we knew we were nearing home. We crossed the Mississippi River just before we arrived in Baton Rouge and it was filled with working docks ...

Tallahassee is not just the capitol of Florida, more importantly it is the home of Marcus's alma mater, Florida State University (FSU). Go Seminoles! While this may not seem important to some, it is important to me because if you know Marcus, you know he tells wonderful stories…and some of my favorites are from the Sigma Nu fraternity house at FSU. Not a whole lot to share for today. We both went to work for most of the day and got on the road about 5 PM for a 4 hour drive to Thomasville, GA, where we spent the night with some friends. We had not seen the NeSmith's in a couple years so it was great to spend some time with them even though it was short. It's incredible how fast kids can start playing with other kids they've never met and act like they've known each other for years in no time at all.

... At least two vehicles with some sort of official logo (Wildlife Preserve maybe) on the doors were driving slowly or parked watching the beach areas. No doubt to check the status of the birds. All of the vehicles we encountered were adhering to the speed limit, and not a MPH faster.

At the far end of the island we arrived in Navarre Beach. This is where the only other bridge to get on and off the island was. We made the left ...

... encrusted pork loin, oven baked potatoes with cubed carrots, onion and turnip and a tossed salad. A lively conversation ensued regarding our next days drive considering the tropical storm Ana was expected to hit Charleton and Myrtle beach tomorrow morning, our scheduled next stop. Oh my! Watching the news and weather channel and Fay freaking out a little, it was decided that our next destination would be Savannah, North Carolina, 120 miles away from the affected ...
