Hampton Inn & Suites Pittsburgh - Downtown
Travel Blogs from Pittsburgh
My alarm went off at 6am and I was glad that I arrived home before 10pm last night. I packed my suitcase and caught a cab to the airport. It was now 7am and the city was getting busy as it was the beginning of the morning rush hour.
I checked into the customs area and I was good to go to my departure gate. The flight was running late and I plenty of time to get some food and drink. The flight to Singapore took about 8 hours

The area is now in a resurgence (still a bit gritty though), resulting in new restaurants and small speciality shops having opened alongside the remaining wholesale businesses. Historical Traveler Reviews Hampton Inn & Suites Pittsburgh - Downtown
Great Hotel; but close to major bar scene
We stayed at this brand new hotel for two nights while taking our son back to college last week. The only problem was drunken guests shouting and swearing in the corridor at 3:00 am the first night - the hotel is in the Strip District which is a major drinking destination for young people. However, there was no problem the next night and the front desk had security keep an extra eye on our floor. This experience would make us think twice about staying here again; as HHonors members we preferred the Doubletree.
Otherwise it was a very nice place to stay. The free parking in the secured lot was a major bonus and the location is convenient both to downtown and the highways. The lobby had very high ceilings which added to its appeal. The front staff was courteous and efficient. Everything in the room was new and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was the standard Hampton fare. We enjoyed watching a big wedding party arrive at the venue across the street, and also views of the river from the back of the hotel. There was an indoor pool which we did not use.
The Hampton was Great!
We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Pittsburgh Friday night, 8/24 room 213. The Hotel is brand new and immaculate!! The room we were in was fabulous. VERY spacious with 2 Queen beds, flat screen t.v., digital thermostat control for heat and a/c, very high ceilings, and spacious bathroom. Good water pressure, with nice sundry items.
This hotel is located in "The Strip District" and was a REALLY convenient, easily accessible location. It is also one of the few hotels left that have smoking rooms available.
The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. Parking is secure, gated, and FREE!! Staff was friendly, and quick to respond.
There is a free breakfast type thing from 6 - 10 a.m. in the morning, coffee, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, muffins, hot eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy. All kinds of juice, milk, tea, etc. Great way to start the day.
Booked directly through the hotel web site and with my AAA discount was cheaper than booking at any other travel type web-site. They DO ask to see your AAA card at check-in so you MUST have it to get the discounted rate which was $107.00.
The Strip District is truly a MUST on Saturday morning, we had a blast walking the shops and sidewalk vendors. Lunch was at Primanti Brothers. We'd seen so much about that place on Trip Advisor, the Travel Channel and the Food Channel we were sure we couldn't go wrong. We were right! The place was great!
Friday night we drove over to the South Side "Station Square" which is fun day or night. The shops do close earlier than the night life, but it was fun. The Monogohela Incline is directly across the street and for $1.75 each way (up & down) it was fun. The incline runs from very early in the morning (I think 7 a.m.) till 12:45 a.m. at night. Ride once in the daylight and once at night. It's two completely different experiences.
The only complaint about the hotel was when the clubs closed down (2:30 a.m.) Some late night partiers checked in and were very disruptive till we called the front desk. They sent up hotel security immediately and it was taken care of right away. The hotel does NOT have any kind of gift shop, just a small cubby hole with a few assorted sundries, pop, and snacks. Very limited.
As this hotel probably caters more to business travelers during the week, the late night partiers are probably not an issue Mon - Fri.
Hopefully the hotel will be maintained in the same beautiful condition it is in now.
Esperienza fantastica all'Hampton.
Great experience at the Hampton. Family stayed the weekend. The hotel was immaculate, large rooms and bath area, comfortable beds. Breakfast offers a variety one or two hot items along with cereals, muffins, ect.
Staff was excellent, and had a knowlege of the area. Provided printed directions to area attractions as well as suggestions for dining. Free parking.
Location was excellent, walk to a variety of restraunts Lydia's Italian, Irish Pub was a good time. Korean around the corner many others. A short walk to PNC park.
This hotel exceeded our expectations of a Hampton Inn by far !!!
Hampton Inn Downtown Pittsburgh - Among the Best in the Chain
I stay at many Hampton Inn's, this is among the best in the chain. As of July 2007 it's a brand new property. It's just off the beat and path in Downtown Pittsburgh. The Strip District is a short walk from bridges leading to PNC and Heinz Field. Numerous cool shops, bars and restaurants are now opening in the strip district as well. The rooms in this hotel are HUGE! I stayed twice in two weeks, once in a King Room and the other time in a Queen Suite. The King Room was like a cavern, and could have used a bit more furniture. The Queen Suite was about the same size, but with a kitchenette and more furniture, it looked perfect. Flat screen tv's, beautiful bathrooms and comfortable bedding. Debra in the breakfast area was both friendly as well as very helpful. There is a nice business center which allow you to use high speed connection computers & printers for free. Parking is FREE and very secure with plenty of spaces accessible with your room key. I managed to break my foot while in Pittsburgh, and the staff was very attentive and helped me in every way they could. I'd highly recommend this Hampton Inn to anyone traveling to Pittsburgh. Thanks to all the staff for their hard work and help during my stay.
Great Hotel in a Great Location
This great new hotel opened on June 29. Our room was sparkling clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The hotel has a small indoor pool, a nice sized business center with about five computers offering free internet access, and free parking!
What's more, the location in "The Strip District" (no worries, it's not a red light district) can't be beat ... the property is across the street from the Senator John Heinz History Center, Pennsylvania's largest history museum. The Convention Center is just a few short blocks away. PNC Park and other North Shore attractions are also within walking distance. Plus, the Strip District offers an abundance of unique nightlife and dinning options. In particular, our group really enjoyed having dinner and drinks on the balcony of Roland's (1904 Penn Ave.).
I highly recommend this hotel for travelers conducting business downtown, family getaways, and groups of singles looking for a fun weekend in the 'burgh.
