A travel blog entry by kenbarbara on Oct 04, 2013

... plane , still an hour and a bit to boarding, will finish this tonight. The flight was uneventful and we were met at the airport and driven to our hotel. We had a light bite to eat and off to bed. Ready to explore Seattle ...

The lower gate of this lock is unique in that it opens vertically like a giant garage door. It took a while to get all the boats in and secured and dropped the 65 feet to the bottom. English was definitely a second language ...

... glass windows, an intricate pulpit and an elaborately carved altar piece. We didnt go inside but apparently there are gilt stars which hang from the vaulted ceilings and the altar is backlit with evening sky blues. The largest bell on the continent, Gros Bourdon calls the Basilica its home, as does the Casavant organ with its 7000 pipes, which is a main feature at the Christmas Mass. Whilst admiring this immense stone structure from outside in the square we did hear ...
