Day 57 Friday 4-10-13 Montreal to Seattle

... plane , still an hour and a bit to boarding, will finish this tonight. The flight was uneventful and we were met at the airport and driven to our hotel. A very different hotel as far as decor but a beautiful position on the bay, we can jump off the balmy into the water if we are game to swim with the sea lions. We had a light bite to eat and off to bed. Ready to explore Seattle ...

The lower gate of this lock is unique in that it opens vertically like a giant garage door. It took a while to get all the boats in and secured and dropped the 65 feet to the bottom. English was definitely a second language ...

Not as grand as its Parisian namesake, what it lacks in size and external sophistication, it makes up in internal depth and detail. The blue ceiling, gold leaf inlays and ornate alter are stunning. The main bell weighs 10 tones (its rarely used as its vibrations damage the building), the organ has 7000 pipes and Celine Dion was married ...

First time outside Ottawa Area, a visit to Montreal.

It's about time we went for a road trip.

First time staying at a hotel: Best Western Montreal Airport.
