The weather was good heading north...missed most of the rain that was predicted on Monday...but boy did we hit a lot of bugs in Georgia. Our windshield was practically covered! Then, when the rain hit, Richard was hesitant to turn in the wipers...thought we'd have a blinding mess...but it was fine. We stayed in Wytheville, VA last night and got a good start this morning.
What a trip in 12 "short" ...
... with our group to go to dinner. We were bussed over to the the Ristorante Alle Due Fontanelli where we had a four-course meal with unlimited wine.
In Italy a full meal consists of several courses and could take a couple hours to eat. The first course is the Antipasto which is an appetizer such as bruschetta, grilled veggies and/or thin-sliced meat. The second course is the Primo piatto which could be pasta, rice or soup. ...
... was about 2 storeys high. The wheels were as high as me. Had lunch in a park which was surrounded by small houses which looked as though they could have been workers houses.
Went to Toledo again by freeway.The speed limit is 70 mph but not many cars stick to it. The road surface is often concrete with cuts in it which mads an awful sound and tend to make the car wobble.
From Toledo we went onto smaller highway ...
Left Tomah Wisconsin early this morning knowing we had another long day of driving. Goal was to get home around 8:00 PM and we made it right on the dot! It felt good to walk into the house. It did not feel like we had been gone for 40 days! Speedometer says we traveled 10,000 miles! WOW! We sure saw many, many wonderful sights. Makes us so appreciative of this great country ...
Today we began the last day of travel to Ohio. It was a rather long day as we had a little issue with our new car. It began around Chicago.
