Historical Traveler Reviews Hampton Inn & Suites Country Club Plaza Kansas City
Many stays here.....
My husband and I haved stayed at this hotel on a regular basis for four years as our two college daughters attend a university nearby. We are ALWAYS pleased with the rooms, the service, and take the covered parking for granted by now. Rooms are always very clean, coffee in the lobby is always available and tasty (locally roasted and blended, I believe) and the morning "continental breakfast" is really more than just sufficient. The location right on the Plaza is a plus. Great, budget hotel in an area that tends to have only higher end properties.
I am very picky about hotels and this one exceeded my expectations. Everything in the hotel from the common areas to our room was like new and very clean. We stayed in a king suite with a kitchenette that had a mini fridge, sink, and microwave. Breakfast consisted of sausage, eggs, biscuits, fruit, toast, pastries, cereal and more. The staff were all friendly and allowed us to check in a couple hours prior to check in. Parking is free in a secured garage below the hotel. The hotel is located right off of the plaza in a nice area. We didn't have time to check out the pool area. Highly recommend:)
Loved the Hampton
Great location, friendly staff, confortable beds and clean rooms make ths a great choice to stay in the Plaza area of Kansas City. Top of the line budget hotel. Free internet and breakfast. A great deal.
This place was awesome!! We checked in here for a one-night business trip. We were in 2 rooms that had just been remodeled - VERY NICE! Staff here is top-notch; everyone we came in contact with was fabulous (especially Kay-B, the nighttime front desk supervisor). Enjoyed the afternoon manager's reception after a long day of meetings around town. The pool is great, but the rooms make you want to move in! We ended up writing down the name of the mattress because it was so comfortable; linens and carpet were brand new. Stayed in a King and the 2-room Double Queen Suite. Breakfast was good the next morning too.
A Very Nice Place
I travel for business two to three weeks, so I have quite a bit of experience with hotels. This hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast bar was kept well stocked and the food was fresh with good variety. There was adequate seating as there has been good use of the space available in the lobby. The staff servicing the breakfast area was personable and attentive.
The exercise facilities and indoor pool were very clean and well maintained. The only draw back was the lack of a Jacuzzi, something to which I have become spoiled.
I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in Kansas City.
Just got back from a stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites and we are already planning another trip back. This hotel has everthing you would need from wonderful rooms(we had the 2 room King Suite with the kitchen) the bed was awesome with very plush bedding and pillows, it's a bed you just climb into and your alseep in 5 minutes. The room was very clean and well stocked with everything you would need to be comfortable and only thing missing would be food if you wished to cook. But, who would want to cook when you have all those wonderful restaurants right at your doorstep.
We stayed at the Hampton for a quick weekend getaway. We travel to the Plaza from our home in Wichita quite often and had not ever stayed at the Hampton Inn.
My family has stayed at this Hampton Inn right off the Country Club Plaza twice in the last three years to escape the ice storms that have knocked out our power in January, 2002 and January, 2005. We made VERY last minute (literally!) reservations for suites with two double beds and a sleeper sofa and have been pleasantly surprised at how roomy and well-equipped the suites are. This is a Hampton Inn, and it certainly isn't the Ritz. BUT, the lobby is very pleasant (with large flat screen TV's) and a nice dining area. Breakfast is more than just continental. There are vending machines and a small store where you can even buy Lean Cuisines to pop in the microwave! The pool is large and quite clean. The kids will love it! Our suite had two TV's and a kitchen with full-size refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. The furnishings are pretty neutral and there isn't a lot of furniture, but there is plenty of room to spread out. There were two sinks in the vanity area and a large closet. There was virtually no noise from the street or the hallways. The location of this Hampton Inn is fabulous for enjoying the Country Club Plaza. It is located right on the edge of the Plaza on a somewhat steep hill (which is OK if you are not negotiating ice!). It is a short walk to everything that the Plaza has to offer. There is an underground garage, which makes for easy parking. The staff at the hotel was very pleasant and helpful. They were absolutely wonderful and flexible for the people staying there due to the weather. Our rate for the suite was $169...maybe not the cheapest, but certainly the most for our money! I would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to travellers.
Great place to stay with kids....
This hotel was a great place to stay with kids. It is located a couple of blocks from Country Club Plaza, but it is within walking distance. The suites are just right for families, the staff was pleasant and accomodating, our room was spotless, and the continental breakfast served was a little more elaborate than most Hampton Inns. The pool hours are great, too. Parking is conveniently located underground (Parking can be difficult in the Plaza area. Some hotels offer only valet parking). It is also far enough from the main Plaza area that it's quiet at night. We would definitely return.
A very moderately priced hotel for the area but with all the convenience, amenities, and perks of other hotels on the plaza. You are within a block of all the great shopping on the plaza. You do have to climb about a half a block up fairly steep hill to get to the hotel after you shop at the plaza but it is close. The rooms are decent sized but they have fairly small double beds in the room we stayed in. Full continental breakfast in the morning is nice and you get a cocktail reception on weekdays. I have only stayed here for pleasure and not for business, but have loved it for a weekend away. All in all it is a nice new hotel that is well priced, clean, and a great value.
