... Visita allo Stratosphere, l'Hotel altissimo a nord della Strip. Ideale, soprattutto di notte per fare ottime foto dall'alto dello Strip. In cima alla torre ci sono quattro attrazioni per gli amanti del super brivido. Un ottovolante, una giostra che gira nel vuoto (!), seggiolini per discesa verticale a tutta velocità, ed una specie di rampa che prima di proietta in alto e poi si girà e ti fa volare in basso nel vuoto con effetto ...

... dinner, we perused the menus in the little book on the desk one more time. We couldn't quite make up our minds, so we decided to go for a looksee. Now this is kind of the bummer for us, all the restaurants were within the casino. We really didn't realize that the casino was the big deal at this resort. We thought it was more like the place we stayed last time which didn't even have a single slot machine.

... They were searching all vehicles heading over the dam just in case someone decided to blow it up. The search was very cursory and would not stop anyone who was determined. The road through the dam is slow and winding, so they are building a new suspension bridge just south of it. We stopped on the Arizona side (the dam marks the border between Nevada and Arizona) and took some pictures, it was just too damned hot (dam hot, geddit ...

... mean the kind where a woman's foot is angled upwards nearly in a vertical position - how can anyone walk in those things? Vegas, luckily, was only a brief overnight destination on our journey to the promised land of Zion, Bryce and Arches National Parks. Instead of man-made monuments, we are seeking nature's temples, natural sounds, and dark night skies. Stay tuned for the real wonders of this land.

We set off home early-afternoon, concerned some of the highways might be closed due to forest fires around LA, but our route was fine and don't worry, the fires aren't all that close to us here!
