The beginning of this new adventure for us began with saying goodbye to Duluth...and all of the material items we could stand to part with. Despite these efforts we still have too much junk. A full 12 feet in a semi, a pretty full Jeep, and a cargo carrier full that rides on top of the Jeep. Wish we had more time for cleaning, packing, and mostly friends and family...but we are so excited to begin the journey tomorrow :) Next stop: Billings, ...

The day started at the Wisconsin Visitors Center and Veterans Memorial. Not much to see.

On to The Depot in Duluth, to see the railroad museum and ride the North Shore Zephyr. It is a nice museum. The star of the museum as far as I am concerned is the DM&IR 227 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone. The museum has several other historic pieces of equipment like the first locomotive to operate ...

First up I drove to Tower MN to take the Soudan Underground Mine Tour. We arrive at the park at 11:15 and bought tickets for the noon tour. I took the opportunity to take some pictures before the tour.
