Thursday 3rd May2012 Picked up the camper from 3rd street, Lost Campers, at about 10am. By the time we'd done all the paper work etc., we got away 11ish. Getting out of the city via the Bay Bridge was a little stressful to say the least; Graham's first time in a left-hand drive vehicle, new vehicle, driving on the right hand side of the road, down-town San Francisco, all made for lots of fun. And... if this isn't a meal in itself; get ready for my yummy butternut squash lasagna!

They took me back to their home in Fremont , south of San Francisco and we got online to book a train ticket to Truckee where my son Kenji could pick me up. He's living and working as a snowboard instructor at ...

... finally got it clipped off after about 30 minutes of Macgyvering. Good to know those things can be had. Yesterday we hiked Fallen Leaf Lake - about 8 miles total around the lake. Desolate and gorgeous and just cold enough. We even got lost on the way back - all the trails looked the same! We ended up about 2 miles north on the main road and hoofed it back. My outdoor navigation confidence is a little shaken, we may be sticking close to the ...
