... of place than driving CC on a state highway during a snow storm in Minnesota. I was getting tons of looks from the locals. As soon as I saw and crossed the Mississippi River for the first time that I got excited again and couldn't wait to make my destination. I was only three hours south of the headwaters but it was already looking like the Mighty Mississippi.

Gas prices range from $3.29 to $3.39. Not too bad, eh? Grateful for cooler day, but still muggy. Chinese-laundry didn't dry overnight! The head of Mississippi River is located in a heavily treed Lake Itasca SP near Bemidji, MN. Not as dynamic ...

They put out Christmas trees across the ice and you cross at your own risk! We took our bikes over and road the eight miles around the island.
