Travel Blogs from Fernandina Beach
We spent most of the afternoon in the sun watching a Boules Competition. There were teams from all around the world so I'm thinking to come back next year with a team. Any takers? Last night was a blast and met some lovely people. We spent the night at Sliders Bar which had a couple of bands playing. Inside there was duo that had Lucy Alexander on …
Thus is a quick update but I'll add something longer tomorrow. So I've been at Fernadina Beach for 48. I have had a blast and the locals have been ever so friendly. They all seem to like me and they treat me like a lord. Sliders is my new favourite bar and both nights they have had live music. Those who know me know that I'm a music geek and I …
We rode into St Mary's in Georgia and then we rode a ferry into Fernandina Beach, Florida. we learned about the history of the islands around this area. the ferry ride was very nice and we saw feral horses that were brought from Spain and Britain because the islands were controlled by Spain, then Britain, even the Confederates had control of a …
... as you wanted so I couldn't really complain. The woman by the window on my side closed the blind for the landing which I wasn't pleased about, but what I did see of North America was mostly snow! Washington was nice and sunny so hopefully the weather will be the same down in Jacksonville. The real drama came when I landed in Washington though. Having landed four minutes late at 1452 local time, we then stood in a massive queue of non-US citizens ...
... the waterslides and then settled into a drunken stupor by the pool. In the afternoon the band held a Q&A session on deck which was really funny and very interesting.
As if I didn't already love Weezer enough, this cruise has completely reinforced my loyalty and respect for them more than I imagined it could. Yes, I love their music. They are a great live act and they have remained themselves despite years of money ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Hampton Inn & Suites Amelia Island Fernandina Beach
Nice property, but not he quietest
I would rate this 3.5 stars if given the chance. Only real problems we had with it were the thin walls and the noisy couple next door, along with the frequent sound of trains passing by our room, though they never seemed come in the middle of the nigh. The hotel is nicely appointed and does not look like your typical Hampton Inn. The rooms are nicely furnished and you feel like you are staying in a new hotel. Desk clerk was very friendly as well. It is also in a great location as far as being in the heart of the historic area.
Nice room. Liked view even if we were almost literally on the train tracks. Trains do not run after about 8:30 pm and hadn't started up in the morning when we got up about 7 am. Breakfast buffet was nice plus and computer for guests was very helpful in checking airlines and e-mails. Would definitely stay again.
I don't understand what all the complaining is about regarding this property. As a seasoned traveler I can say without a doubt that this is a terrific proerty and I would recommend the hotel to anyone. My wife and I spent two nights at the hotel in November. Everything was fine, check in was quick and staff was very pleasant. We did change our room however, because our first room which over looked the water had railroad tracks close to the room. We didn't want to take the chance of being awaken by a passing train. Our next room was fine and never did hear the train. This Hampton has one of the best breakfast areas of any Hampton I've ever stay in. Also, there were many signs around the Hampton stating that this Hampton was voted the number 1 Hampton in the US.
Nice Hotel and Great Staff
We just stayed at the Harborside Fernandina Beach Hampton Inn over Thanksgiving. The hotel was perfect for we needed and the staff was great. We have stayed in many Hampton Inns & this one ranks right up there. You don't even need to take the car out, everything is right in walking distance. We would stay with them again!
Having read some very poor reports about the Hampton Inn at 19 south Second St. Fernandina Beach, I looked at the other Hampton Inn first, and as it was not in a central enough location decided to go on and look at the one downtown. A very wise decision. The hotel is in a perfect location, walk to everything, beach is about 1 mile away. The hotel itself is quite new, well furnished and the staff were very helpful and always around. There is a outside pool which while small is fine for a swim, I ignored the 1000 am opening time and had a swim at 0730, its ridiculous to have so late an opening time for business people and early flight departures.
My family of three just got back from a long weekend at the Harborside Hampton Inn & Suites. We had a wonderful time. Great location, close to all sorts of sight-seeing, shopping and dining.
Having read a previous negative review, I checked in with some trepidation. I had booked a suite.
Great Location/Top Shelf Decor
This was a lovely spot to stay, steps from the historic town center. The decor was very nice, clean rooms, but I agree w/ others--the place IS understaffed! The lovely outdoor pool overlooking the harbor was closed, I suspect because of lack of help! If you stay here a MUST is dinner at Pompeo's on Centre Street-the BEST italian food I ever had, hand prepared by a old world owner.
This used to be a beautiful hotel with an outstanding staff.
The Hotel is beautiful and nicely appointed. It is located close to everything you could ever need. The entire staff is very friendly and hospitable. I wuold recommend this Hotel to anyone considering a wonderfull stay at the beach.
