Good hotel with secure parking lot

This was our third Hampton Inn on the trip. We were a little concerned about the location as it seemed to be near a not-so-good neighborhood, but we didn't have anything to worry about. The parking was in a secure valet lot directly behind the hotel. Once again the room and breakfast were very good.

We continued on from Scranton to just outside of Albany, NY on I-88 to visit our friend Bob and his family.  They invited us for dinner which was great, frozen pizza and beer!  So nice to have a relaxed casual meal and just visit friends. To be honest, we were pretty tired of restaurants by this point in the trip!! I think we were …

... Of course the locals have no idea what it means!

I visited Phil and Tracy, their two lovely daughters, two Corgies (queens Elisabeth's favourite dog), James and William, a tall Jack Russel, Tobi, and two cats, Quentin and Angelina.
Quentin is my new friend and at night jumps on my bed to keep me company.

Phil made some time for me, so nice, so we went visiting a ski resort, Windham, where in the winter they go almost every weekend for ...

Just before leaving Mechanicville we got an email from Lock One Marina that they had still not received our filters.... at least we now knew we would be at our anchorage at a good hour! We left just after 8 am to tackle the last two locks in the Champlain Canal and the Federal Lock at Troy. We did still stop at Lock One Marina for diesel, and he filled us up so quickly we were even still able to make it through Lock 1 with the other sailboat Callipyge we had been traveling ...

We are meandering our way from Hudson, NY to Bartlett, NH. Our big pow wow late last night was to decide our route for today. Decision time. Straight toward Bartlett or take some back roads through the Berkshires and take in the special Van Gogh exhibition at The Clark in Williamstown, Ma.? We've been cued in to this exhibit by our friends Judy and Robert - and we go decide to go for The Clark – it’s ...

After a peaceful few days in Fort Edward we moved on through Lock 6 and Lock 5, and we asked to tie up at Lock 4 where we intended to spend the night. Unfortunately when Marty went to talk to the lockmaster he could not allow us to stay overnight since there were big barges coming through. After a quick lunch we moved through Lock 4 and on to our next planned stop- Mechanicville. The wall has power, water, ...
