... had a cold drink. Took a cold shower and then tried to sleep - it was very hot.

Breakfast of coffee and oatmeal, made with my immersion water boiler. Set off for Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Drove through Mt. ... to church (for the first time in a long while!) at Chris and Gladys' Episcopal church in Pittsburg. A lot of Brits have the image of Texas as being super Christian and the churches being super intimidating (which I think would be putting it nicely). However, Episcopal churches are cut from the same cloth as the Church of England (and even uses a book of common prayer and many of the same hymns) and I actually felt quite at home there :-) the priest was ...

      The Lone Star State

A travel blog entry by georgestrick on Aug 24, 2013

After a week of road trip and sleep deprivation, yesterday I touched down in Dallas, TX, for a stay with my relatives, Chris and Gladys. They picked me up from the airport and we made our way back to theirs (after a quick stop at Walmart for a few bits and bobs I'd lost or run out of since Maine). They are making me feel very at home here in ...
