... that give a flavour of what it must have been like 80 years ago leaving the dust bowl behind for better days on the west coast. Crossing the interstate once again I drove through Bristow and then took a loop through Depew which has kept the original concreted of 66 along its Main Street. The last few miles took me to my destination in Stroud. I rounded the afternoon off with a swim before taking the current Route 66 alignment to Davenport for dinner at Gar Woolys ...

Left home about 5:45. Flight from OKC at 9:15. Arrived O'Hare 11:15. The international terminal is a totally different building so we had to go out of security, ride a tram to the international terminal and go back through security so that took awhile. Everything else was smooth. Talked to a girl while waiting at the gate who lives in Dublin and had been visiting ...

... turtle on the road. Also drove down a stretch of 66 only 9 feet wide. It has been easier to follow the route today so we have stayed off the Interstate.
You can see us on this blog run by the owner of a motor museum in the town of Afton. She took our picture and details but got confused as we said we lived near Chepstow.

... was to try getting to little rock Arkansas. GPS showed 12 plus hrs. . We started our drive around noon, so We would try going as far as possible.
The scenery started started changing a little bit. Though we still passed thru the desert it was getting greener.

The driving fatigue had started setting in. Briji and I both ran out topics to discuss. There is only so much a brother and sister can discuss. :). Especially me being the big brother

Tonight's home is KOA Oklahoma City. It is very pretty and not a motorway in sight. When we checked in however they did warn us that we are on a tornado alert so they would let us know incase we have to seek shelter. If we don't post tomorrow then we have all got sucked up and we will be in Oz!!. If we survive the night tomorrow we will be driving to Amarillo listening to Tony Christie all the ...
