... On the west edge of Tulsa Route 66 crosses the Arkansas River via the second bridge that has carried the road. The newer bridge sits next to the previous bridge which has been turned into a tribute to Cyrus Avery, the man who lobbied for the creation of Route 66 and ensured that it would pass through his home city. Left home about 5:45. Flight from OKC at 9:15. Arrived O'Hare 11:15. The international terminal is a totally different building so we had to go out of security, ride a tram to the international terminal and go back through security so that took awhile. ... where nearly all of the buildings have been abandoned. It was once a thriving town when 66 went through but now there is a bypass so no one stops. Baxter Springs where we stayed last night used to be a rich cattle town which attracted many bank robbers such as Bonnie and Clyde, the James Gang, the Daltons etc. it's a bit quieter now!

... was to try getting to little rock Arkansas. GPS showed 12 plus hrs. . We started our drive around noon, so We would try going as far as possible.
The scenery started started changing a little bit. Though we still passed thru the desert it was getting greener.

Tonight's home is KOA Oklahoma City. It is very pretty and not a motorway in sight. When we checked in however they did warn us that we are on a tornado alert so they would let us know incase we have to seek shelter.
