Our first day with the new trailer went very well. We drove
about 3 hours through the beautiful countryside of New York and stayed out in
an RV park in the farmland. Bill located a RV park in Sodus Point. He
though we were down by the finger lakes, but when we pulled in we realized we
were camping on Lake Ontario. These great lakes look just like the ocean.

I'm not really a morning person, so unless I have to be somewhere pressing, I like to take my time. This morning is one such morning. After an ok night's sleep (the bed was a little harder than I first realized) I coaxed hot water out of my low pressure shower, washed, dressed, and walked next door to the Lafayette Restaurant. Yep, the locals must like this place; it's not packed with people, but it's nearly full ( and I'm here at 9:00 AM). Lots of ...

Arrived in Canandaigua New York around 5 o'clock and checked into my room at the Lafayette motel. The motel is a very nice mom-and-pop motel. It's nothing overly fancy but the grounds are maintained, the room is clean, and the bed is comfortable. There is a restaurant on the property that operates from 7 AM until 8 PM, and another restaurant across the street. Debbie, at the front desk, was very nice. Total cost of the room for the night $75. Not bad, given the fact that ...

The 5:30 alarm this morning was a bit jarring - something for which my working family & friends have little sympathy. Picked up Val & Richard at their home by 8:15 a.m. - a 60 mile distance - and away we drove for the next 7 hours. The trip ...

... and drive for a few hours, gives Bruce a rest. Drove for about two hours west on I-90 through Ohio, quite boring. We figure we'll drive to just north of Chicago or until 8 tonight and stay in a Walmart, rest area or Cracker Barrel lot. Well, after trying to find ANY place to park and stay, we finally found a Cracker Barrel off I-94 in Gurnee, IL. After 13 hours, 652 miles, we're parked behind a Cracker Barrel and ready for bed. So ends our first day on the road to ...
