... Hannibal is thriving. We started our day climbing the Cardiff Hill up to the light house. From up there I saw a pretty good view of the town of Hannibal and the Mighty Mississippi. I’m sure that when Sam Clemens lived there, the view was much better since the trees would have been much younger and shorter. It is 244 steps from the street up to the light house. (Do not remember climbing those steps 50 years ago.) ...

WHY ARE THEY NOT $1.25. Those cookies were never going to be $1.25. SO I have noticed this everywhere. How come the crazy Americans don't just put the actual price up?!

My Grandma, Grandpa, Mom (not buried here) and 5 of her brothers and sisters (10 in all) were from, and are buried in, Carterville, IL. ...

... space for a tent. The site they assigned to me was literally on a hill. I plugged into a nearby electrical box for an hour at an unclaimed flat campsite and filled up my dromedary at the spigot. I didn't go on the cave tour because it was another $18. It was a pretty area despite the tourist flavor. I haven't seen a touring cyclist since Colorado, so I'm excited to be back on track with my established bike route maps. Maybe I'll run into one soon. It's so nice when that ...
