... form of relaxation, and I take advantage of good prices and great choice to do a bit of wardrobe replenishing, surprisingly easy for she-who-doesn't -much -like shopping!
Ellen, who, unlike me,grew up with a grandmother and perhaps thus had a Jewish upbringing, has been a regular at the local synagogue for many years and takes Sam with her to friday night service. So it was with some curiously that I went with ...

... Having just received a desk and extra bookshelves as her mum moved into a smaller apartment,,Sam's basement room here at Ellen's was in a total state of chaos with barely an inch of empty floor space, food scraps and clothes and at least 6 pairs of shoes included, so I had offered enthusiastically to help her make it nice and finally we got to it and had fun almost transforming it into a large, clear space, (to be ...

... area, while the Vietnam one is quite subdued but incredibly powerful and moving. The simple design adds to this as does the listing of all who died. We also saw the big Abraham Lincoln statue in the Lincoln Memorial, much bigger than we expected! Etched in the walls are some of his most famous speeches, a great memorial. Got out at the accommodation and you know that noise that's always in the background in cowboy films, well its real and it only happens for a couple of weeks a year. Its frogs calling!!!!

Wandered into Gettysburg town and its worth a visit as its not change too much since 1865. Had a lovely steak in the Blue & Gray sports bar - recommend it.

Today I felt relaxed, liberated, full of life and had a great day.

... was very moving and in absolutely no way fun (nowhere with a genocide floor can be fun) but so worth a visit. The 2 days of intense slow museum walking really made me tired so after looking at terrible holocaust images I decided to make my way back to my host's house and that takes me to now. I have had such a great time in Washington and would absolutely love to come back here. I am about to head out to dinner with my hosts and then onto Houston tomorrow. I will keep you updated.
