It was the first time I really got to play with and study a two year old. And now I know why they say an angel watches over all small children.
Erin and I have decided to make our visits more frequent in the future.
Phoenix, Arizona, United States brandonibolognaWe did a bird walk this morning at Veterans Oasis Park, a new reclamation project in Chandler. Reclamation meaning the end product of a waste water treatment facility.
We have a fish able lake here with limits and everything, a large wetland and an environmental education center on site.
Parks like this are an inspiration in the desert. Take a look at the pictures to see what I mean--would you guess it's genesis?

When you grow up ...

Mesa, Arizona, United States thesairsEvery morning if we were moving on it would be bags to the coach at 7:45am sharp. Lauren had made a point on the first day by leaving some people behind after a lunch break in San Diego as they were late coming back. In the welcome tour she had given us all an 'on **** sheet' with all the addresses we would be staying at so if you got left behind somewhere or were drunk and didn't know how to get home ...

Phoenix, Arizona, United States charlietWe started our trip from Tempe, Arizona (see how we currently lived there). Our goal was to find a new life and our destination was the south-west, southeast, and notrth-east sections of the United States.

So it was time to say our 'Good byes.'
Tempe, Arizona, United States reena.ram.king... I tell myself, "it isn't that big a deal to miss our flight, unless we have to pay a huge penalty or buy a new ticket. That would not be good, but it won't kill us." That doesn't take away the growing knot in my stomach. I'm the one who set up everything for this trip. Julie hasn't had to think about schedules or destinations or deadlines. I've been the navigator the whole way. Not that she probably isn't already aware of this, but I tell her we are in danger of missing ...

As we move towards the Arizona border we start to see snow on the north-face slopes and the temperature fluctuates slightly above or below freezing depending on the elevation. New Mexico does not note the elevation on road signs, as is done in Arizona, so you can only guess. I miss the atlas that we have used in ...
Phoenix, Arizona, United States momadunc... NP was a good substitute for Chaco. We stayed in Flagstaff overnight. It is a fine little town (about 60K people) with lots of character. There is a lot to do and see there. We visited the nearby meteor crater (just what its name implies), the Walnut Canyon National Monument and the Riordan mansion in town (where we met a Thomas Jefferson HS and 2006 JMU grad working) before heading up to the Grand Canyon for three days ...
