... that are more easily learned by "hands on" experience than explanation.

A first occurred for us at Little River Bridge, a mile before our destination. We were the solitary boat and were about 10 minutes past the bridge's normal hourly opening. I was prepared to patiently circle while we waited for nearly an hour for the next opening. Boaters who know this bridge will be amazed at what happened ...

Our start this rnorning found us aground in the mouth of Jeremy Creek after leaving Leland Oil dock in McClellansville, SC. While this wasn't on our plan it did provide the opportunity to eat a nice breakfast, coming unstuck from the oatmeal-like bottom just as we finished the last of our coffee. It was nice to finally be in warm weather but we knew it wasn’t going to last. They were called for a low of 2degrees that evening and we were not looking forward to it. I have never been to Myrtle Beach before but Chris has been a few times. It’s strange being here right at this time of ...

... Tomorrow is a 'must do' run to Georgetown to (again) hook to shore power for the electric heater. This next cold front is touted to be the most severe so far this year and we can't survive comfortabyly without heat. While Mr. Heater is good, he is expensive to operate. He's great to have when there are no other options but the fuel he burns is costly. We've already overspent the marina budget due to the cold weather and adding butane cylinders to this ...

... but we managed to get some sweet potatoes, onions, carrots, peppers and even some boiled peanuts. We had never had boiled peanuts before and the guy said that outsiders usually don’t like them because it’s an acquired taste but after a little test peanut we thought they were great. They kind of turn into beans more than nuts which is yummy! We bought a bag and continued on our way. We got to North Myrtle Beach when it was just starting to get dark but it ...
