    On a Mission

A travel blog entry by adekruyter on Oct 12, 2014

On November 11, 2014, we will be leaving Holland, MI and going to Bluefields, Nicaragua to stay for 7 weeks with our friends, RCA missionaries Adrian and Bernardeth Kelly-Bobb. Adrian is a pastor and Bernardeth is a medical doctor. We will be helping in their daily feeding program for 120 children that live in the slums of Bluefields. We will also be working at 2 group homes; 1 for adolescent boys and another for adolescent ...

... city a bit last night and during lunch today. The city is filled with hustle and bustle, there is so much to see! I am now understanding what everyone told me before leaving, "you could live in Rome your entire life, and not see everything." So true! Until next time,

In a couple of hours we'll be leaving Holland to begin the first leg of our journey. Somehow leaving on September 11 feels appropriate because, as tragic as it was, this day above all others reminds me of the strength and courage of Americans, both now and in those early days of the founding of the original colonies.

There won't be much to comment on for the first couple of days. We'll be stopping in Columbus, ...

... disinterested waitress we’ve encountered in a long time (after asking us one time if we needed anything else, she began walking away before we’d even responded). We reminisced about old times and filled each other in on what’s going on now.

Tomorrow morning is a 6am call time again, so I’m sure we’ll be napping as soon as we arrive on the lot. We are not used to this schedule anymore so it’s going to take some time to ...

... our jammies - we stopped at the Silver Lake Sand Dune State Park and rode a big butt dune buggy over the dunes for about an hour. It was great fun and the whole car got a kick out of the 2 "Red Hat Ladies" trying to climb in and out of the darn thing. Glad we only stopped a couple of times, I couldn't have climbed in and out many more times.
ANOTHER EARLY START TOMORROW - we catch the ferry from Muskegon to Milwaukee tomorrow morning.
    More tomorrow. ...
