Our plan is to arrive in Virginia by Sunday. First up, Historic Jamestowne, the actual site of the landing of the first English-speaking settlement in the New World; followed by a visit to Jamestown Settlement, which is a living history museum of the people who lived there.

So we had a departure delay from Denver today - a mechanical issue on our plane & we had to wait for the repair, then wait for it to arrive. Wasn't a bad wait & seemed to pass quickly. Besides, we were willing to wait for a happy plane! The flight was easy, just bumpy through the clouds during ascent & descent. Michigan so far is fairly flat with gently rolling small hills and is GREEN. Reminds me of Arkansas. We found a motel ...

Our PA friends brought with them 2 pounds of bacon, which we cooked up before any of us entered the forest (2 pounds of bacon split between ten people is still close to quarter-pound each). They also fried up some Jack Links beef jerky in the bacon fat, which I made the mistake of trying. Have you ever felt your heart slow down as you eat? I have.
