... had signs up for a Monterry-Chicago Fire soccer game. As it would turn out, the two teams were playing in the finals of some minor tournament. The game was in Chicago, but there were no shortage of viewing options in Monterrey, and we settled in to watch amongst a crowd that cheered at all the wrong times :) In a very close game, Monterrey won in a shoot out.

So that was Monterrey. And then we got back on a bus.
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico kimandjohn... of back alley in downtown Monterrey. It has a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom with AC! All for US$10 per night! Sometimes even though we seem to be taken care of - there's just no peace. Monterrey is a BEAUTIFUL city, although very Americanized. After two more meetings were set up for this weekend, we knew we had to cancel and keep moving. It was confirmed by MANY. The people were not happy, but oh well. On to Tampico!
Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico robandmillie... br> When we arrived at the church, we met the pastor in the back. They told me that I had to speak, yet this was news to me. I declined nicely, and they kept pushing me until Rob said "She doesn't want to!" They had a shocked look on thier face. See, I really felt that I wasn't supposed to.
So we walked into the church, which was more like an overcrowded room. I entered the pew and the woman to the left of me was ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico millieradosti... we were in the city to meet my uncle Packie, who took time out of his busy schedule to show us around and entertain us. It was great to see him and catch up and get to see where he lives and works. He showed us around his schools and we met lots of his friends along the way. We had a few crazy journeys with his mental driving, definitely think he has God as his co ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico dixieannie... anxiety, and loneliness, and (3) reintegration and adaptation, where you gradually adjust to your environment. During the flight, I felt a sudden pang of anxiety. How would I communicate? What will it be like? I was scared of not being in control... As soon as I got there, I realized that many people here actually speak English and that my limited Spanish was enough to get me through. After studying six years of ...

Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico jhaddon... drove to her house to drop off some of my things, a nice apartment 20 minutes from the airport. the rain was furious! it makes Vancouver's rain look weak... puddles everywhere, it was certainly exciting. the difference being, of course, that it's warm when it rains. like a shower outside with thunder and lightening :P after we dropped my stuff off we drove to Chipinque ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico jhaddon... Cavazos' home. Jaime's faithful old widowed mother, Sra Maria, is in her mid-eighties. Her husband and faithful elder, don Isaías Cavazos, died a few years ago. Nice to be with them for supper all together with several relates. Wonderful feeling and fellowship with them. That evening Jon and I walk two blocks away to Benjamin & Rita Lopez' (Jaime's sister) for the night, after some music---they also have a piano.
Monterrey, Mexico tstewy... buffet. So here I am, the end of day one and all I've done is put sheets on my bed. Hopefully tomorrow will yield a more productive day... And for those who were wondering, no, my apartment does not have central airconditioning, but I do have a box fan and a ceiling fan in my room. The rest of the apartment is a sauna... one little window and no ac. Welcome to my life... :) Adios!
