Today we left Poughkeepsie for Philadelphia, via Milford, a historic town and in which the cemetery of which my Great, Great.....Grandfather General Daniel Brodhead is buried. The town of Milford was absolutely beautiful, soemthing I did not expect, with a very French influence. Many french bakeries and beautiful old homes. A visit to the old bookshop was rewarding as we found more books for our Nicholas and then on to the cemetery. ...

Saturday today and we spent 90 minutes
trying to work out a travel plan before heading in the general
direction of Sussex, NJ. ...

Within an hour we were traveling through Baltimore, MD with no sign of the riots that had recently occurred. We entered the longest tunnel that we had ever driven through - the Fort McHenry Tunnel. It was 1.5 miles in length with 8 lanes in 4 tunnels. The tunnel took us under the Baltimore Harbor.

Travelled down to Jersey Shore Boardwalk at Seaside Heights today. Famed for Jersey shore, the MTV programme. A long drive to the beach took a couple of hours. The whole board walk had been recently redone because of Hurricane Sandy which had obliterated the whole front including the theme park that features on many of the broadcasts about Sandy. We strolled down the boardwalk interweaving between fun park money spinners; coconut shy etc. and fat, cheeseburger ...
