... see the alligators swimming freely in the canals and not being coaxed with food to get them to come out on the ride. Enjoyed seeing the Everglades in person and experiencing the boat ride.

South Beach was interesting. The beach is beautiful but with a lot of sea grass that has washed up on the shoreline for miles and miles. You have to walk a long way out to get past it. Didn't swim in ...

    Leg 1: Denver to Miami

... whatever. Then I asked a lady where my stop was and she assured me it was the last one. Oh, good. That's a relief, not too hard. Finally I got back to the airport and found someone to give my day bus pass too. The Redbury Hotel was a good choice. Tiny, with only 69 spacious rooms, marble baths, every amenity including luxurious robes and perhaps unique among hotels, every room fitted with its own turntable and a selection of LPs ranging from Norah Jones to the Beach Boys and Rolling Stones to Duke Ellington and John Coltrane. The location, Collins and 18th Streets, is excellent and the view of the Miami Beach skyline from the roof (where there is a pool and an herb garden) ...

... explore the vast nature. I think
this is a great idea. My final stop will be in Christchurch before
heading over to Hobart and then to Melbourne, Cairns (lots of
diving!) and Sydney to visit some more L.E.K. folks.

Hitting South-East Asia at the end of April will see me meet up with some friends in Kuala
Lumpur, Taiwan and Bangkok whom I haven't seen for a very very long
time (1, 2 up to 7 years). And of course ...

... the most leg room out of any of the flights we have taken so far) we arrived in warm Miami! We had a shuttle take us to our hotel and were reunited with John, Melinda and Nicaela there. We were so happy to see them- especially Annalise who kept on saying she has not seen Nicaela since she came back from being overseas! And the hotel is just beautiful- we were even able to get an upgrade! We are on the 31st floor and not only have an amazing view but have 2 ...
