Cajun Christmas
Merry Christmas from Louisiana! We started the day by taking a boat tour through a swamp. Because it is winter, all of the alligators are hibernating. But we did see raccoons, vultures, egrets, and great blue herons! The swamp was very neat with the Cyprus trees and other swamp plants. Our guide was a true 'cajun hillbilly' so we got to experience a bit more of the culture ...
It's Christmas Time in New Orleans

Before we left, we stopped at the famous Cafe Du Monde to get some beignets for later. They were covered in powdered sugar, and they were absolutely delicious. After that, we drove to our hotel in Houma, Louisiana. On the way, we drove past some swampy areas, with large cypress trees, which are so neat and so typical of Louisiana.

Day 1
... t notice the heat too much, but stop at a stop light or to take a butt break and it was bad. Unfortunately, almost every place we stopped for a butt break had no shade. We are going to the Outback Steakhouse for dinner tonight. It's across the street so we'll just walk.
