... our window and we were looking for travelling mercies til the end of the day.
I ventured out again this time heading west - lots of beautiful trails on the island, even if you do have to dodge some horse droppings (and clueless bicyclists!) along the way! Mom sat with the couple we met the first night (former RC priest, since married 25 years) on the porch until I returned and then we followed the UPS horse cart (!) into town, had yummy ...
... morning from the room (not such a bad gig with this view! and the sound of horse drawn carriages below...) After all that though, amazingly enough, it was time for another meal. A full luncheon buffet is served, though I didn't make it far past the huge bowl of jumbo shrimp! We fortunately, or unfortunately, sat next to the dessert table so a few of those ended up in front of us also (okay, you wouldn't have passed up the blueberry pie either, I bet.)
... Ferried back in time and entered the fudge zone on Main Street, Mackinaw Island. (Yes, we bought some.) Had a yummy lunch at Millie's cafe (sorry Bonnie, we forgot to take pictures! Good veggie burger and chicken sandwich and housemade potato chips. Plus I had a "local" ale on tap. Mom had...a diet coke :- )
We walked to the hotel (maybe we'll do the horse drawn carriage on the way back) and ...
... to organize clothes in a camper closet.

One last note- we visited the famous Legs Restaurant for the first time ever while staying at Wilderness SP. A very unique place well worth a visit if you are anywhere near Crossville, MI. The food was wonderful and the traditional polish dishes and vodkas will not ...
After departing Alpena with following John & Rita we followed highway 23 through Cheboygan to the bridge. Connie got a great picture of the magnificent bridge as we crossed it onto the Upper Peninsula (UP), beginning our Yooper experience. Both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are really only one body of water, sharing the same water level elevation.
