Planning the drive from Washington to Kentucky with 10 people is no mean feat. After a few minor dramas of the vans that we had booked and paid for prior to leaving Australia months before we go to collect our van we discover there is no van available. Fantastic! This means that we have several trips back to Washington airport to swap cars to get the correct vans. Disaster averted.

This stop is planned in order to visit the owners and breeder of a dog I plan to get once I am back from Alaska. I am so excited about getting a puppy and December seems so far away (which is when I can bring the puppy home).
The puppy is a Malagasy Coton de Tulear.
We stayed at the KOA in Renfro Valley. We only put on 149 miles today because we spent the afternoon with the dog breeder.

... one of the resident black bears we climbed higher and higher along this somewhat tricky trail. We reached the main waterfall which made the journey worthwhile before we started the well earned descent.
Along the track we found a tortoise making his way through the forest - although it had taken us some time to make the trek at least we weren't the slowest now! We got back to the car safely, although only just in one piece ...
We are at the Corbin KOA actually in Corbin, Kentucky. This is an overnight stay on our way to Derby week. A very rural area with lots of trees and hills. Corbin is also the birthplace of KFC.
