Oh boy. Day 3 was an action packed day. Not only did we see the world's largest truck stop (gasp!...and no we didn't visit) we ended up in Lincoln, NE home of the cornhuskers! What a formidable sounding foe. I'm trembling just imaging the terror that they must inspire in their opponents when they step onto the football field (this trip has a lot of football going on....).

Another 8 hours in the ...
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States alycat09... Where hay bales out number humans and cattle out number hay bales. Where dual wheel pickups are king. Where 5 plus miles views across fields are common. And where corn rules.

This drive may have added a couple hours to our trip but we saw what most tourists don't. Pictures we have, bu they are in the camera which is down in the truck. I'll try to get them uploaded tomorrow night.

Lincoln, Nebraska, United States invisiblecleaWell, it's been a long time planning and it's almost here. I've got only 46 hours left before i leave for France. I do hope you'll join me on my 2 week excursion to Europe. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you may even be appalled, but in any case you'll have nearly as much fun as me (ok, let's be honest, not even close, but you'll be alright). Talk to you soon!!

TTFN
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States invisibleclea... adds up.

I have to say goodbye to our plants. I know they are just plants but we've had some of them for five years!

Probably the most daunting task, is that I have to find an experienced home for our two bunnies. We'll pay for their essential care for the year, but I can't help but think of them dying. For some reason, it seems more likely with someone else. Maggie has a poopie butt, and they'll have to check her teeth. <br ...
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States jessi330After a short drive from Omaha we made it to Lincoln, Nebraska. The small town home to the University of Nebraska. We parked on campus and walked around looking for places to take photos. We had some fun playing on some of the statues and goofing off. We saw alot of ...

We learned that it was not only the first institution west of the Mississippi River to award doctoral degrees in 1896,but the college also celebrated its 140th anniversary of its founding on Feb 15th 2009. Home of the cornhuskers, the locals follow all the games at a variety of bars located nearby.
Jason and I had a delicious ...
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States weilnauThe trip from Rawlins, Wyoming, to Lincoln, Nebraska, was a long one -- over 600 miles. It was a straight shot along I-80 with way too much road construction. (Again!) As expected, much of terrain was rather flat and boring. Lots of sagebrush for the first few hours, then lots of grassland, then lots of corn fields.

It was fantastic ...

The hostess was drunk, and laid her daughter's life story on us, who smokes marijuana out her dorm window in Colorado from a 12 ft bong made out of snow. "They're real liberal there" in Colorado. Everything was a little snappy. Real snappy down there. Pretty snappy out here. In the license plate game, I am up by 5 states with about 25 left!
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States kcmfb626So today, we arrived in Nebraska. To get here, we left Denver in the rain, and proceeded to drive for a very long time across Colorado, into and through Nebraska, until we finally hit Lincoln. Why Lincoln, some people ask? The answer is: I don't know. It was the nice half-way mark between Denver and Chicago, our next destination spot. We stayed in a complete HOLE of a hotel room--plywood floors, with a very aggressive and elusive fly, holey sheets, and noisy streets. But ...
